Fernando D'Elio

Fernando D’Elio (he/him/his) is a gay feminist activist from Argentina. He has been working on LGBT human rights for more than 20 years. He has an MD in Sociology and Political Sciences from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO). In the early 2000s, he joined Nexo AC, a recognized gay organization in Argentina that published until 2004 a monthly magazine NX, Gay Journalism for Everybody, promoting LGBT rights. From 2007 to 2011, he worked as Latin American and Caribbean Program Associate for the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission-IGLHRC. Between 2009 and 2012, he also worked as a consultant for the National AIDS Program of Argentina at the Prevention Policies Area, working on research and policies for key populations and articulation with civil society organizations. In 2011 he founded Akãhatã-Equipo de Trabajo en Sexualidades y Géneros, where he currently acts as Co-Executive Director. Akãhatã is a regional feminist organization that promotes sexual and reproductive rights and capacity development and sustainability of movements in the region.
